Join us for our next adventure....at Scuba Club Cozumel!!
Cozumel has all the ingredients for a great dive getaway – friendly locals, good food, lively nightspots, towering coral formations, warm water, great underwater visibility and white sandy beaches. Cozumel is famous among the diving community for its lush walls and high-voltage drifts. The reef system around the island is a part of the Mesoamerican reef system and is protected by the Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park. As such, it is extremely healthy for a Caribbean reef and is home to 26 coral species and more than 500 species of fish. In fact, February is a particularly good time of year for Bull Shark sightings. Cozumel is suitable for all levels of diver.
Located on the waterfront one mile south of the downtown ferry dock, an attractive multi-level building of Spanish-Colonial architecture blends in with the waterfront. Built in 1976 as Cozumel's first dedicated diver's resort, Scuba Club Cozumel is still a very intimate place where Cozumel Aficionados find convenience and good value. Designed and built — by divers for divers — to provide all services in one convenient place.
You'll find great diving right offshore from the resort. The jagged ironshore limestone wall gives refuge to many juvenile reef fish, lobsters, crabs, octopus, and even an occasional seahorse - great for macro photography. Depth is about 15'-25' and access is easy from either of the piers using the specially built stairs, complete with hand-rails. A very easy exit is found through a tunnel, that leads to a waist deep saltwater pool and a short staircase up to the deck. Night dives here are fantastic offering unique and memorable creature encounters.
Due to the prevailing currents found in Cozumel, all boat dives are drift dives. Divemasters will lead every group of divers. The pace is generally very relaxed. When the currents are running stronger its easiest to go with the flow and let the current carry you over the reefs and through the passes.
