PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer #166411

While in the Army, and stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, I came down on orders for Egypt in 1997. Some friends told me that I just had to get SCUBA certified before I went so that I could experience the wonder that is The Red Sea. I was completely hooked after my first dive in Sharm el Sheikh, and spent the next year diving almost every weekend.

My next assignment took me to Germany, where the diving was, well, not quite as good as the Red Sea (But at least it was a short plane ride back to Egypt for a dive vacation!) I worked for my first dive shop part time while in Germany, and completed my Divemaster internship there. After “suffering” in the cold dark lakes of Bavaria, I treated myself to the PADI IDC in Key Largo upon my return to the US, and have been teaching SCUBA part time ever since 1999.

While stationed at Fort Eustis, VA, I got into Technical and Mixed-Gas diving, as well as some salvage and recovery diving. I crewed the 53’ tech dive boat “The Wreck Master” while stationed there as well. The coastlines along VA and NC are absolutely my favorite areas for wreck diving!

I love sharing the joy of SCUBA with new divers, and teaching experienced divers new skills. The most rewarding experiences I have had teaching SCUBA have were while stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, and working with the Underwater Warriors organization assisting in teaching wounded veterans SCUBA diving. Bringing the joy of SCUBA to anyone is fantastic, but helping to give someone back their sense of freedom is beyond words. Mother Ocean is a great teacher, and she reminds us that we are all the same in her eyes.
